How My Work Began…

Hi, I’m Jessica. My father is an Antiquarian Bookseller and to his delight, I have always been interested in books. Rather than selling old book I love making and repairing books. This started as a hobby but I soon became swamped in all the different books I was making (and my friends and family had all received books for presents!) so I decided to find a way to sell them. I started selling locally and then opened an online shop and was amazed by the destinations my creations ended up! I love the idea of the travel journals boarding planes in Northern Ireland and ending up the other side of the world, before they've even started to be used!

The Evelyn Rose Books workshop (aka my study!) is based in rural Country Antrim, Northern Ireland. My house sits at the top of a a very windy hill which has the most amazing views. On a clear day I can see all the way across Northern Ireland to the Mourne Mountains and the Irish board c.60 miles away. The weather is the price to pay for the views!

I continue to expand my range as I buy in new leathers (can you tell that I love different coloured leather!) and find decorative and handmade papers. Each of my wedding guestbooks is the result of my buying new handmade paper and thinking how best to use it. I only ever buy handmade papers in small lots (3-4 sheets) so each design is very limited edition.

I love a challenge, so if you have any ideas of something special and different which you would like made then please message me :)
